- Ruether, Rosemary Radford
(b. 1936)
Theologian.
Ruether was born in St Paul, Minnesota, and she was educated at Scripps College and Claremont Graduate School. She subsequently has taught theology at Garrett Seminary and North- Western University in Illinois. A member of the Roman Catholic Church, she has produced several important books including Faith and Fratricide, Sexism and God-Talk and Gaia and God: An Ecofeminist Theology of Earth Healing. Her work reflects many of the theological preoccupations of the late twentieth century – the disavowal of racism and a concern with gender and language, and the place of human beings in the environment.
